Hi guys,
I'm just posting to see if any of you have had the 2year warranty experience that I'm having at the mo.
The place that I bought the bike from advised me to change the oil after 300k so I took it in on Saturday last week and they charged £49 for the oil change plus sundries.
Now they are saying to qualify for the warranty, the bike has to go in again after 1000k for a Valve inspection where they take the bike apart and do a check then put it all back! Even if there's nothing wrong with it they'll charge around £120 for the labour and oil !
Is it me or am I being taken for a ride ? The bike is brand new and running like a dream. Or do you think that the next service is an important one and I should pay for piece of mind?
Has anyone else had the same service procedure ?
Many thanks
Lloyd

Hi Lloyd That's a new one on me mate. Why would you need to do that, it doesn't make sense. Looking at the service schedule there's nothing about inspecting valves after 1000kms. The schedule says change your oil every 1000km, that's fine but if you take to the dealer every time you are going to pay through the nose for something which will take you no more than half an hour and cost no more than a litre of oil. I do wonder if the warranty is worth it to be honest! I think I'll be doing most of my own servicing, (no way am I paying £70 for an oil change like last time). Just did 1000km change, had good check over fuel pipes, battery, wheel and steering bearings etc tyres, brakes and all that and checked lots of nuts and bolts. I think a lot will depend on how you ride, the weather conditions and your mileage as well. The general feeling I get from most forums is "do it your self it ain't hard" (well most of it). All part of the fun of being a scooter rider. What do other members think? Got some paint from Halfords for the surface rust on the exhaust. Supposed to be good for very high temperatures so I'll give it a go. Its just like being a youngster again playing with my new toy. take care mate Jenksy

Keep an eye on your service schedule. My first service was after 300km. Seemed odd but it was free! They seem to have an odd one 3 months....3 months...6 months.....3 months....3 months..you get the idea. And i like your idea of the paint from halfords too. Wish i'd done that, mines all rusty now haha....but when i think about selling it, i'll get a new exhaust ordered.

Hi Bailo Hope they sort your GTS out for you. Its a pain when these things happen, there is never a good time for it. All part of the joy of scootering I suppose! Nice to see a bit more chat on the site at the moment. onwards and upwards! Hope everybody out there has a good weekend, weather doesn't look to bad in my neck of the woods so I'll probably get out with the old paint brush on Sunday morning to do the exhaust (after listening to The Archers on radio 4 of course!). Take care on them mean streets Jenksy

Thanks for your responses chaps ..yes might well look into a simple oil change and do it myself . It seems this lot are after my hard earned dosh .As you say Jenksy about how you drive and the mileage..I only do around 6 miles a day to and from the train station so I cant see that there can go much wrong with the bike to be a slave to the warranty business. I have the manual so will keep on top of it. Hope you all enjoy the sunshine Lloydy
