Off work with a nasty dose of the flu (and no, not the "man" variety). The downside is of course no scootering. The upside is I can spend my day in bed watching scoot related YouTube videos and thinking of summer projects. Also have eBay of course which could get expensive if I'm stuck here and bored for too long....
Hope you are all keeping safe out there.

Oh dear mate that's not good! Only had flu once when I was in my 20's. I was in bed for just over a week but I still felt the effects for over 4 months afterwards. Let's hope your well soon so you can get out Orbiting with the camera to show us the way! Wonderful thing the old You Tube, entertainment and education, just what you need to make you feel better! Take it easy on e-bay though or that could be a very expensive illness.

Still in bed and still bored... The main thing I'd like to know about my Sym just now is has it or has it not been derestricted (either partially, or fully). The speedo reads over 30mph but they usually lean on the generous side. There is no washer in the variator (may have been removed by the previous owner or maybe never had one), so next up is the CDI. A picture of mine is below, does this code match anyone elses and is it therefore a stock or aftermarket unit. Any thoughts would be very welvome, I've put the code into Google but nothing is matching.

On my speedo I can easily get to 40mph (so just under really) and there is more left in it! I reckon it will do 45ish but I haven't tried it as I'm one of these saddos who don't break speed limits and anyway 40 (ish) is plenty fast enough for old Jenksy on a 50cc with little wheels and only 1 small disc brake and a drum brake, they do the job but 50cc scooters don't seem to stop as quickly as 1.2 litre Hyundai i20's! So I reckon if your getting 40ish on the speedo you are a de-restricted Symite!

Afternoon all.
Still have the restricted cdi unit that came off the old Symply when it belonged to sister and i purchased a genuine SYM de-restricted one when i had it. The number on that one is S2B 010 201124. (restricted)
Have checked the cdi unit on the replacement Symply which i know has a Genuine SYM de-restricted unit that jonscoot fitted (still have the original package and invoice) in among the paperwork and the number on that is printed in a different way:
T3A 010 2051081 M92
It is a 40 mph bike though only just and taking into account the Symply 2/ Orbit 2 were said to produce slightly more power than the standard Symply.
Hope this may be of some use.

Just a little note. Put my app on for the ride home and managed to get to a reading of 40mph on the clock. Checked maximum speed achieved when I got home and that showed 37.3mph. So not to bad, and as I said before it wasn't flat out. As far as I'm aware my Symply just had a restricting washer in the exhaust which was removed by the dealer.

Thanks very much guys, I really appreciate you checking this out. Do you know if the genuine Sym derestricted CDI was ordered through a dealership or online? I was looking at a Naraku CDI from Racing Planet. It's £27 so not a huge outlay if it doesn't make much difference. If it's got an exhaust washer then I'd probably just leave that to the experts.
