Hi all,
Having got through my CBT last Saturday, today it was time to pick up my new ride.
Two Wheels in Edinburgh always take a photo of new owners for their Facebook page so here is my mugshot...
Took the bike for a 5 mile spin around my usual routes before heading for home.
First thing you notice is how incredibly smooth it is. The wheels are larger than the wee Orbit which makes a huge difference and the engine just purrs along. Tried the "idle stop" technology for a while, it works extremely well, however it is going to take a bit of getting used to hearing the engine die out whenever you stop at lights. The obvious reaction is to blip the throttle in case it really has died which kind of defeats the purpose ! The brakes are very responsive, the dash informative and overall it just oozes quality as you would expect with a Honda. The under seat space is huge as the fuel tank is between my legs so no immediate rush to get my topbox fitted back on.
Any niggles...not really. I can feel myself up against the pillion section of the seat and a few more inches of room would have been handy, but then I am 6'2" tall so just need to sit up a bit straighter. Do I miss anything from the 50cc Sym, yes, audible indicators. There is a big flashing green arrow on the Honda dash but I prefer a bit of noise too just to jog my memory when it comes to cancelling. However this is a very minor point, everything else is top whack.
Will be starting my daily commute tomorrow morning, in the meantime it's chained up in my usual parking place where I can keep an eye on it !
