Hi Guys
Just a thought on a meet up maybe next year.No pressure regarding how you travel, drive or take SYM.Just a get together to have a bit of a laugh and see a few faces.Camping on a site or would people prefere something else.Location obviously to be agreed to allow all to be within sensible traveling distance. If it sounds like a good idea comments and ideas welcome.
Regards Jon

I would be up for that 100%. I was actually thinking about this yesterday, we should work out where every member is located then find the middle ground. I'm in Oxford and prepared to travel. Any excuse for a long ride!

I have done a number of rallies in the past on Vespas and Lambrettas, plus more recently on my MZ where I was one of the organisers for the Dartmoor Pact. I'm in the far flung corner of Torbay in Devon. However I think there is a member further west than me in Perranporth Cornwall.

Positive start guys so cheers for that.Would suggest to go about this in the following way to be sensible and fair to all members:
Let this post run for a month or so to allow members to have a think about it.
All who is interested post their location and if they would be taking SYM or would rather drive. To be realistic of traveling distance.
Campsite easiest though not to all's taste so state what you prefer so we can work out campsite/b&b location.
Keep ideas flowing and keep in touch so wires are not crossed and confusion or disagreements start.
Have Fun ( important part)
......oh and rickyh what MZ do you own, i have a bit of a soft spot for those from working for a main dealer in 80's/90's.First job on leaving school.Tomos and CZ also being on the dealership.Love anything that's a bit different myself :-)

Good idea Jonscoot. It would also be a good idea if we could get regional members in touch with each other for meets, even if its just a few (the old saying about 'small acorns' comes to mind). From this a great deal of interest can be generated. With the permission of the admins I will try and put together a flyer over the next week, so it can be downloaded, printed and handed to other SYM owners.
As for the MZ's, after my initial scooter riding Mod days, I did develop a love of Eastern Bloc iron. I have owned a MZ TS250 Supa Five, MZ ETZ250, MZ ETZ251 and a Jawa Babetta moped I bought for my boys to tinker with. Still intend going on the odd MZ ride out on the Joyride.

Please go right ahead Ricky! I'm from Wiltshire and willing to ride some distance! I'm happy to see how this will progress!!
Furthermore i was also planning to run some Google ad's targeted at UK SYM owners directing them towards the site. I'm not to sure but if I'm gunna advertise it anywhere its on google!

so far so good chaps, Bournemouth, Wiltshire, Oxford and Torbay so as far within a 110 mile radius of each other. Not unrealistic two wheel travelling distance to a meeting point.

Sounds good mate. Nice to meet up at some point and meet fellow Symites! Mrs Jenksy will be most amused I would think.

Reckon so mate. Should be fun. Wether I symply it or Hyundai it I'm not sure mate but whatever I'm up for it. Had a busy day putting the garden to bed for winter. I said I would cut everything back and take the rubbish up the tip. Mrs Jenksy inspected my handy work and said she wouldn't let me anywhere near her hair after the job I'd done. Even baby Jenksy said "where are all the plants gone?" when she came back from Nanny and Grandads. So I'm not green fingered but it looks tidy. Hoped to go for a spin myself (over to the old folks) but by the time I'd finished and had my roast dinner it was getting on a bit. Did manage to get the cover off and have a check over ready for work tomorrow. See the weather looks ok again this week so I might have a little run out after tea tomorrow. Think I'll give the old Symply a bit of a wash off this week as well, like to keep it nice!

The old MZ now that takes me back. The thing which I remember is the large square fuel tank! A neighbour of my mine in the years before Mrs Jenksy (the good old days I call them! and then run away very quickly) used to have a 150cc mz I think it was for work and running about and a big 850 moto guz for touring. He used to ride to Italy for his hols and buy spares as they were so expensive here! Some things don't change! I remember him saying that the mz was superb, simple, reliable and easy to work on. Am I right in thinking that they are still making bikes out there in the former DDR? You don't see them advertised here if they do! Hope you enjoy being a Symite and have lots of trouble free and fun scootering!

I think MZ are going to start making bikes again. They were taken over by a Malaysian businessman but they went out of business, mainly because I think they invested so much into 1000s, when probably a foray into the maxi scooter market at the time would have paid dividends. I think gone are the days of the quirky 2 strokes though or even a 4 stroke that has a bazooka for an exhaust and weird shape petrol tanks. They looked crude but had bags of character. First short ride as a SYMite this evening on the Joyride, down to Kingswear on the banks of the River Dart and home again. Absolutely loved it. Re- the camping weekend, the furthest riders apart showing an interest so far are myself and TPP (Torbay and Oxford respectively). I have found this campsite near Frome which is just over 79 miles from Oxford and just over 96 miles from my door. Have a look and see what you think bellatbuckland.com/camping.htmlThis would make it a Westcountry SYMmering, but SYMmerings could be organised elsewhere for owners to meet up.
