Lousy weather up here all day. I stupidly left the bikes cover on despite the increasing strength of the wind and so just had to go out and pick it up off it's side !! Doesn't seem to be any damage done, won't be using it tomorrow anyway so I'll check it over properly in daylight. Note to self - do not leave a large sail like piece of material around your scoot when the wind blows hard !!

Note to self - do not leave a large sail like piece of material around your scoot when the wind blows hard !! My scooter is always covered. If its really windy I don't just rely on the strap on the cover, I use a double bungey hooked onto the centre stand, over the seat, around the centre stand on the opposite side and hooked back onto itself really tightly. Stops the wind getting under it. I think where its parked as well keeps some of the wind off. Hope that all is OK with when you check it over. Good excuse to take it out for a proper spin, just to make sure its all running properly! Think its meant to be fairly nice here in Southampton tomorrow so I'll probably get out for a while. Take care and hope you are able to get out and about!

The bungee ropes are a good tip, must pick up a pack. It's been a wild night here but just up for work and the bike is sitting outside quiet happily so must have been the loose cover that caused it to blow over.
No scootering here today sadly, but Saturday looks bright, calm and sunny so will get bike out for a quick spin then.
Ride safely.

As a matter of interest what length of bungee ropes do you use ? I'm guessing a meter ??

As a matter of interest what length of bungee ropes do you use ? I'm guessing a meter ?? I've got 2 about 800mm long joined together. They are long enough to allow me to secure my cover using the centre stand and the end hooks back to where the 2 are joined together. Just a couple of old ones I had in my shed from my cycling days. Took the cover off today and went for a bit of a spin. What a nice day today! No trouble with starting today or getting up the hill. I have ordered some silkoline pro so that should be here Monday or Tuesday, ordered from Amazon could have got it from Opie oils cheaper but then with postage on top it was much the same. See that Opie oils have got Silkoline Scoot a 10w 40 semi-synthetic oil for scooters (£5.99 a litre + postage) wonder if anyone had heard of or used it? I use a motorcycle oil (10w 40) by carlube. I get it from b&q. Seems o.k I pay about £7 a litre for it and as I have said before its changed every 1000km. Hope everybody is well out there in Symland and looking forward to plenty of scootering in 2015! Back to work on Monday (unless I get called out before!). I do like my time off but I am one of those sad people who like their jobs and enjoy going to work! Its just the getting up in the morning that's not so good. Nearly 40 years and I'm still not used to it!

Thanks for the bungee info, it's a good idea, I'll get a couple ordered up on eBay tonight. just back from work (wind has died down but pretty cold) so checked the Sym over in daylight. Seems to have survived it's fall unscathed which is testament to the build quality. Put the key in and it fired up first time so all good. Hoping to get out for a spin tomorrow.
Let us know how you get on with the Pro FST, as I said before I've always used it and never had a problem, I'm sure it helps prevent engine wear as well as helping with cold starting. If Silkolene do a scooter engine oil then I'd certainly be interested in trying that, will check it out as I'll be doing an oil change over the next couple if months.
