Up this morning at 6am as usual and out to get the Sym out for the short hop to work. It had been lashing down rain for the previous few hours and the bike was soaked.
Got all ready to go and the wee bugger wouldn't start. Only had this happen once before and that was when I washed it down a bit too vigorously just after I bought it so I'm assuming it's water ingress.
Got it chained up again, in to the flat to swap jackets and off to get the bus. Got half way to the bus stop and realised my keys were still in the bike jacket so had to wake up my long suffering other half to get back into the stair and pick them up.
Then followed one of those days at work where you spend a lot of time running about but don't seem to achieve much, but what the hell it was Friday after all.
Came home and decided to spray some WD-40 on the bikes electrics, charge the battery and wipe clean the spark plug. I've taken the plug out before but this being today, it slipped and dropped into the engines plastic covering (anyone taking their plug out should watch for this, the plugs are small !!). Had to unbolt the cover of the fan to get it back. Also checked the air filter and the sponge cover had fallen off the air filter, glued that back on.
Friday 13th got me this time !
Tonight I have ordered up an iridium replacement plug as a new one won't do any harm, and these are supposed to be better than the standard ones. I've also ordered a proper socket attatchment to remove the plug. The tool that comes with the bike is a bit fiddly.
Tomorrow, assuming the rain is off, I have Fertan anti rust treatment to paint on the exhaust (and any other rusty bits I can spot), a motion sensor alarm to fit, and general clean down (being careful with the water !!) and the first fitting of the new footplate.
Hope you all have a good weekend whatever Sym or non-Sym related activities you are off to enjoy.
