Just to say i hope you all have a great weekend and don't forget to change those clocks.Time is certainly springing forward this year. Not a Syming weekend for me but a cycle down to Dorchester in the morning for the breakfast club and then the loop back through North Dorset and homeward bound. A few good hills to keep the heart pumping. Keep smiley

1st 100 mile cycle done in a long time. Shame about the wind and the drizzle but with that we can cope. now going for a lay down :-) Haven't done a cycle ride like that since I was in my 20's! I always found the wind a real pain. I was never that great with hills either. My best time trial time for 10 miles was 23min 50 something seconds and for 25 miles was 1 hour 5 mins. I never have had the competitive streak though. Used to smoke 30 Marlboro a day as well! I used to enjoy going out just for fun (on my own). 30-50 plus miles with a fair few breaks, all over the New Forrest, great fun. I haven't owned a bike for 18 months now and to be honest I don't miss it. I cycled to work from the age of 16 until 52 years old, I don't know what creaked most me or the bike! Enjoying it much more on the scooter, I do like a good old Sym ride these days. Glad you enjoyed your day mate. I spent the day doing bits and pieces with Mrs Jenksy and playing Subbuteo great fun!

I think i can understand every word of that jenksy. Have to admit the cycle miles are dwindling over the years as body starts to complain more than it use to. Should think that will be my lot until the end of Summer when no doubt i will be coaxed into another cycle jaunt. Quite enjoying the Symply myself. Makes a nice change just allowing an engine to take the strain. Bit of rain in the air or the wet roads though and not my chosen form of transport. I do seem to choose cycling in these conditions rather than the 50. Probably a mind thing thinking i will skid in the wet and come off worse.
Have a rather nice dolls house project to start tomorrow, first xmas order. Will be built out of stone and a proper thatched roof. A fair size, 5 ft x 3 ft and all the olde worlde furnishings so looking forward to that build.
take care now and all the SYMers out there.

Sounds like an amazing way to make a living freddie. Would guess you have to have great patience and a good eye for such work.Sounds like quite a sizable piece of work....dare i ask what this would cost for the completed building. Not cheap i would think if all hand made.
Hope i am not being rude asking

Hi joe1998. Not a bad way really to make a pound. Keeps me in the workshop. Firstly of cause it's not rude to ask a price. That is the bottom line on any job completion. Secondly if i just said the price most people would keel over.
On this project everything is done by hand, from forming each stone to the thatching and every stitch within the furniture. All the wood for beams, floors, furniture etc has to be cut and aged. A garden has to be designed and built around the building along with the electrical lighting etc.
Taking into account designing the classic cottage which has probably been the last month and showing the design to the customer, making changes to suit them and final plans.
So the final bill for this dolls house cottage is £15,000. plus the cost to ship abroad by single driver which is about £3,000. Alot of my work is purchased by wealthy named persons.
Although that sounds like a staggering amount for a Dolls House, you have to take into account that amount is basicly my earnings for the next 9 months so an annual income adding smaller jobs is only around £20,000 pa.
It is a labour of love and not a financial one :-)
Take care

My brother in law is an artist. Like you Freddie he is able to do something he loves and earn enough money to get by. It's a balance I've always respected and envied. You dolls houses sound amazing.
