Despite being summertime all week while at work it's showery and windy today (sods law). However did get out for an hour to complete a couple of jobs on the scoot. My original plan with the alarm was to run it off a separate 12v battery and holder, unfortunately this didn't work as the alarm is designed for a lead/acid bike battery. So drilled a small hole in the seat basin and ran the wires to the battery. Going to test it this weekend and make sure it isn't going to put too much drain on the battery, however as I'll only be arming it at night then hopefully it will be fine. Next job was something new to me, changing the front disc pads. Noticed the brake was squeaking a bit recently, apparently this is easily fixed with some copper grease on the back of the pads. Seem to make sense to renew the pads anyway and I'm glad I did as they were quite worn. The top one isn't too bad but the bottom one is well worn, the marker grooves are hardly visible. Fitting the new ones was actually quite easy and with the addition of the copper grease hopefully that's the squeak gone too. After that just time for a wash down and then the rain came on. Hope you are all having a good weekend.

New brake pads working fine, and the copper grease has sorted out the squeaking, excellent.

It's pretty straight forward, there's a really good RAC video on Youtube which was a great help, follow the tips here and you can't go far wrong. youtu.be/9liExSECt2Y

Always the way Simon that when you plan a job or two the Weather is not always in favor when it is outdoors.Worth keeping an eye on the Disc Brake pads. Many years ago i managed to destroy the front braking system on a 92 Ford Escort under Heavy braking when two cars ahead on a Motorway went into each other.Managed to avoid them but as the pads were so low the pads and discs ended up no more than shreds. Over a weeks wages at local garage for that one.

Good advice Housey, I was surprised how worn the pads were so really glad I had a go at this. Bikes first MOT is due in August so want to avoid any nasty and expensive surprises.
