For those who may like things a bit retro but not cutting edge techno.Picked this 125cc beast up this morning.Non runner, was sparking but no fuel flow. Float stuck. Now un stuck and fired up and filled the workshop with wonderful 2 stroke wafts. £50 paid for a bit of fun. One to take over to Eastern Europe with lad and gear aboard. A crap bike in Uk but a workhorse in the Eastern Block.

you don't get any more 'agricultural' than these things when it comes to the engineering.

Might be agricultural but they did a job. A neighbour of mine when I lived on my own in my little flat (the good old days I tell Mrs Jenksy and then I run away swiftly!), he had an MZ 125 that he used for work and running about and he was always singing its praises! He had a big 850 (I think), Motto Guzzi for touring at weekends and hols. Like he said the MZ was very much a work horse but very reliable and easy to work on. DDR engineering at its best!

MZ were great machines. You only have to look at their heritage within the trails and motocross times. The road bikes ETZ range were brilliant for commuting, rubber mountings on engine etc to keep the ride smooth and very user friendly when it came to maintaining them.Probably one of the best bikes to come out of East Germany. The trouble MZ had was they were a bit to close in the styling and era of CZ, 1980's early 90's and was compared to much with them.Of cause CZ where Russian and built at the time their quality was not at its best. I just love anything that everyone loved to hate so to speak :-)
