Having a Mate build a basic Concrete block side extension to my workshop over the last couple of weeks. Told my Lad it is for storing my spare parts when really it is to be a workshop for him and his mountain biking mate's to have somewhere to clean and repair their bikes and just their little zone so to say.A week ago i phoned a few Large UK importers of Big named MTB's asking for posters explaining that they would be for the Lad's new workshop and i do not expect something for nothing so said i would send them postage paid poster tubes or large envelopes to cover costs. Not one agreed excuses ranging from we do not have the resources to it is not in our interest to send such items to non commercial properties.
Thought i would take a chance and phone the USA Company direct of the Mountain bike i purchased for the Lads 13th Birthday, being Marin.Explained the same situation to them also saying would be happy to cover any costs.Enthusiastic they were more than so i just left it at that and see what would happen. This afternoon a large box arrived from DHL. From Marin, California.Posters, water bottles, stickers, T-shirts you name it it was in there. They did not ask a single penny.
What the Hell is wrong with UK Companies. The Youth is their Future.

An instance comes to mind, I joined an American forum where they sent trinkets from whatever country they were from to other forum users. I thought I would join in and asked our local Harley shop in Edinburgh to help out with goodies like button badges/lanyards etc. They didn't even answer my email, so tried the outfit in Glasgow. Next day an envelope arrived with a dozen of each (i.e. lanyards etc.) in it. The guys on the forum were fair happy getting stuff from Scotland. So, in answer to your question, I don't think it is necessarily the companies but the eedjits that are in charge at the time.
PS, not a very good photo but this is what I received from one of the Australian contingent, it's a kangaroo and the Australian flag pin badges.
