Some days you feel you should just have left the bike at home and taken the bus.
Almost collided with a cyclist this morning which was entirely my fault. Was getting hassled at a roundabout approach by a van who was desperate to get past me and the bus next to me (in fact the bus hooted at him), concentrating on that and missed the cyclist approaching the roundabout from the right. He avoided me and no doubt muttered a few choice words under his breath, which I undoubtedly deserved.
Coming home tonight I checked mirror and signaled to pull out and pass a bus, only to find a car breathing down my neck as I started to move. The lifesaver glance certainly deserved it's name ! Nipped back in OK, car didn't seem to bother.
I get cheesed off when I make stupid mistakes. It's funny how you forget about all the trouble free trips, but the odd one you screw up stays in your memory. Actually that's probably a good thing, lessons learned and all that !
Oh well tomorrow's another day. Planning a visit to Two Wheels the Edinburgh Honda dealer to give the PCX125 a proper look over and try for size this weekend.

We all have them mate, it's difficult to keep your wits about you all the time but unfortunately on the road (car, scooter or bicycle) you need to. Close calls like this where no one is hurt have to serve as a reminder! Couple of weeks back a young girl pulled up next to me at a roundabout, she was in the lane marked with the right turn arrow, but she was well to the left of the lane. And sure enough she went straight over in the direction I was going, luckily I was half expecting it so it wasn't a real issue. Off she went completely oblivious to her actions (either that or she didn't care!). Defensive is the only way to be, "they're all out to get me". Hope you have a better day tomorrow. Had a quick look at the old Honda, looks very smart! Take care mate!

All have those days. Probably the worst moment i ever had was when i rear ended a BMW in Poole, Dorset about 4 years ago. It was wet, i was not at full alert and just braked too late in the Pilot Van. Not high speed about 20 mph and just watched the Beemer shunt forward at few feet. When your sat there thinking 'Oh sod it' the words changed when the POLICE STOP sign appeared in the rear window of the BMW along with blue lights reflecting off the wet road.Watching 2 Policemen getting out and walking towards you was a bit of a soul deflating moment lol. Funny thing was they could not give a monkeys as they said 'not our car' exchange of details, breath test and on my way :-)

I've noticed when there is 'good weather' i.e. dry, sunny, and warm, road accidents seem to increase. One day last summer I was riding in the city centre, going nowhere in particular. There was a foreign registered car following me. Stopped at the first set of traffic lights - no problem. Got moving again. At the next red light, stopped again, no issue. At the third, I stopped, and while the light was still red I suddenly heard a crunch sound and I drifted forward about a foot. I beeped the horn like mad (rarely use the thing), jumped off the bike, put it on centre stand, then examined the back for any damage. There was none. I made a gesture at the lady driving asking what the hell she was doing. Maybe holding car still with throttle and the clutch slipped? Anyway there was no point reporting it as it is very unlikely the driver would ever be caught, so I just carried on. The incident could have been a lot worse though. I've become a lot more paranoid about vehicles behind me since then.

I have noticed these days though that not only do you have "the Amber gambler" at traffic lights but "red light runners" seem to be much more common!!

It was a car hitting me while I was sitting at traffic lights that has given me my knee problem. The old B**T**D hit me from behind causing the bike I was on to fall, trapping me underneath. X-rays showed no bones broken but plenty soft tissue damage. Can't lift my leg over a bike or trike which is why I have come over to step-thru's. It keeps me on the road.
