Sat out in the sun with a vodka and sprite in our very pleasant hotel in Portugal. Not a kid in site and so quiet as well! Had a quick look on the way out of Faro airport and noticed plenty of scooters about, mainly Chinese machines so it looks like I'll be able to do a bit of scooter spotting whilst out and about! No Syms as yet then we have only just arrived. Always interesting to see what is popular in other countries. Hotel WiFi is spot on so I can keep abreast of all the action in Symland and keep you up to speed on what our Portuguese friends are zooming around on. Loads of books on the Kindle and Mrs Jenksy for company (the slimline Mrs Jenksy, she's lost over 3 stone as she was struggling a bit, as you do when you get older). Baby Jenksy is off home today from Marrakech, Mrs Jenksy does a daily "face time" thing to keep in touch with her, all very modern. Hope you've all had a good weekend!

Went for a little walk this morning and as we left our hotel there was a bloke just starting his scooter and heading off (in the regulation T-shirt and shorts, did have a helmet though!). First Sym of the holiday, an oldish looking Symphony with the bigger wheels. Made sure to point it out to Mrs Jenksy who was over the moon "whoop, whoop a scooter". I don't think she has quite the same enthusiasm as me somehow. As we got down towards the beach I noticed a very old and quite tatty Honda Vision, obviously very well used, but still doing the business, and then a newish JMSTAR 125 with one of those curley sports exhausts. That one came past us on the way back up. All in all a successful morning scooter spotting. Told Mrs Jenksy that I would need to make my report on the Forum, " oh that will be nice for them all" she said with that slightly bemused look. So now she has taken her place in the sun whilst I'm sat on the terrace Sym Foruming to my hearts content. Nice cup of coffee, book and a ciggie, aaah! I'm sure she will text me with her drink order soon. Hope all is well today in Sym, (Honda and WK as well) land. Take care out there on those mean streets!

Went on a trip around the western Algarve today so thought I'd report on the scooters spotted. Another Sym symphony was seen and pretty sure I saw an Orbit as well. On the way back I spotted a Sym dealer as well, just outside of Lagos (not the Nigerian Lagos!). Saw a great big camper parked up at one of the stops and they had a rack on the back with a Honda Vision on, bloody good idea thought Jenksy! Saw a couple of vespas and a few different Chinese scooters, some quite smart and others very much abused. On our way home on the highway at about 100kph we were overtaken by 2 big boy bikes. One I didn't see the make and the other a huge BMW driven by a young woman. The bloke on the first bike had a T-shirt and the woman was wearing just a vest!!! There should be laws against it you know, imagine trying to mend them after a crash, bloody selfish if you ask me. Mind you it seems to be the norm in Southern Europe! Anyway, rant over hope you are all well and having fun!

Wangye 125 spotted whilst waiting outside a shop waiting for Mrs Jenksy (as I often do). Quite new looking. Have a feeling they produce scooters for export to UK but are sold as something else! Very confusing. A lot these cheapy Chinese bikes look very good when new but after a while get quite tatty. Had a Lexmoto Valencia parked next to me some weeks ago, 6 months older than mine but well worn! Only 6km on clock. Maybe it just hadn't been looked after and cleaned but it certainly looked tatty! A lot of Chinese scooter fans seem to say that if looked after they are OK!! Although for an extra couple of hundred quid I'd rather buy a Sym! Or a Kymco!

It's very confusing when you say Wangye 125 spotted but you don't say which model. When I Googled Wangye there were various models all 125. PHOTIES, Mr Jensky, PHOTIES. It would help us understand what you are talking about a lot easier.

So Jenksy is home from a very enjoyable 2 week stay in Portugal and ready to get back in the swing! Came out of the arrivals gate at Gatwick and who should be there but Baby Jenksy. Just thought she'd pick us up to save us the 1 hour 50 train journey with Mrs Jenksys huge case and old Jenksys small case. Its a 150 mile round trip for her! How thoughtful.... gets that off me haha. We drove back and she was telling us about her Morocco holiday and her new flat with her boyfriend, and the job she has applied for at the hospital where she works. Mrs Jenksy told her all about our hols, and I sat looking out of the window! Oh yes nearly forgot 2 hours parking at Gatwick £12!! welcome home to reasonably priced England! Got home and had a nice cup of tea, Nipper Jenksy had picked up Mr Cat so he was waiting for us purring away (the cat that is, Nipper is far to busy to stop! haha). So whilst they continued their chat Jenksy went and uncovered the old Symply as I thought I'd better give it a start as its sat idle for 16 days! Put the old key in and thought I'll just give it a couple of goes on the old kickstart to get it moving. First kick and up it fired! Just gave the throttle a little turn to up the revs slightly and then let it idle for 5 minutes whilst I pulled a few weeds out of the borders and such things. Anyway I'll get out for a ride tomorrow as Mrs Jenksy wants a few bits of shopping so that's as good a reason as any for a spin. Few tears from Mrs Jenksy when Baby left to go to her new home! That's it just the 2 of us now and the Cat, must be tears of joy then, having me all to her self!!!! Looking forward to a bit of a Sym ride tomorrow. Hope you've all had a good weekend! Take care.
