About six years ago I took a new scoot I had recently bought (a Yamaha X-Max) on a run down to my sisters new house in the Borders village of Stow. Never got there as half way down I misjudged a bend, wrecked the bike and injured my back. My involvement in scootering ended soon afterwards.
Every time I've gone past that bend on the bus since I've vowed I'd one day try again.
With the arrival of the PCX I at last had an opportunity. This weekend was the annual Stowed Out Music Festival which the village has staged for the last four years. The weather forecast was fine so off I went.
I wasn't as nervous as I expected to be, and despite a strong wind that picked up, I completed the trip without incident (and back home again today).
It's nothing life changing, but is a small tick on my list of challenges still to face so I'm happy (and I saved a £9.50 bus fare !!).
