That's a trek and a half in a car mate. When I was in my 20's I was a keen cyclist, Southampton to Bournemouth (via a various long winding routes through the forest) sausage, egg, chips, and beans in a cafe, hour or so on the beach. Then back along the A35 overtaking the traffic queue going into Lyndhurst. A little break for more chips and off home. Cor my bum aches just thinking about so long in the saddle now! I used to smoke 30 Marlboro a day then as well! Hope it goes well for you mate. What charity is it for by the way? Have fun!

Greetings All A few beers may be in order tonight after the last 7 days.997 miles cycled on LEJOG averaging 142 miles per day.Firstly now i know why i reduced my cycling from touring to a shop run.....knees are now caput lol.Secondly i said it was a charity ride but was not the case.My fault i assumed it was as most of them are.Was a group of 5 Gents and a Lady who just wanted to test themselves on the humble Bicycle.Having worked in the Cycle world as a mechanic i was dragged along at the last minute to back up any problems.Apart from a few punctures and a broken chain all was well. Anyway cheers for egging me on and tomorrow will be the long journey back to Bournemouth (not me driving thankfully).Have missed the dear Symply 50 though the last 7 days have put a few ideas in my head.
Keep the Engine of Life running guys All the Best to You all

Well done mate glad you made it in one piece. If you were a scooter you would be well over due an oil change! I think in your case topping up with a few beers will more than suffice. Bet the Symply wonders what is going on! Not been out on mine for a week. Off Monday and Tuesday out with ma and pa. I don't think they would appreciate a scooter ride at 78 and 80 respectively. Had to take car to work Wednesday as I was dropping it off for its service on Thursday but ended up working late due to problems at wareham. Ended up taking my work van home. Dropped car in Thursday morning so I've got my van at home again I'll pick my car up Friday afternoon. If its not to bad Friday eveningI think I'll take the cover off the Symply and have a spin! Take it easy now.

....Off Monday and Tuesday out with ma and pa. I don't think they would appreciate a scooter ride at 78 and 80 respectively..... Both my parents have been on mine (not at the same time haha). My mum is 71 and I took her out on Christmas day for a meal. Was the coldest day ever and it was the first time she went on a scooter. 5 miles each way. She was actually a pretty good passenger and there were no balance issues. She said it wasn't as bad as she imagined it would be, apart from the cold. I've taken her out on several very short rides since then. My dad is 74 and he went on the back only once, kept complaining about the speed even though I was always below the speed limit of 30mph, and the way he fidgets and moves around on turns was scary and I would never take him again!

Cheers, though as much fun just to prove to myself i can still do it (just) i think i will stick to the mechanical 2 wheels for any distance and just keep up the 5 mile daily cycle on the shopping run for Granny. I know my knees will love me for it.
